Tax Guidance for Nonprofits Available

In the challenging and competitive nonprofit sector, the 990 form is a key transparency tool used by the public, media, researchers, legislators and regulators to obtain information about how well organizations run. And frankly, good 990s attract good donors.

In September, Mark Patrick and the newest addition to the team, Tim Raines, spoke at the 2nd Annual Small Business Development Center (SBDC), University of North Florida, Nonprofit Management Conference, presenting “Expense Allocations: Good Accounting Can Lead to a Better Form 990.”

This workshop helped nonprofit organizations determine the methodical differences between generally accepted accounting principles and reporting required for the Form 990. It also provided guidance for the allocation of revenue and expenses, challenges that may occur, and good practices when it comes to overall operations.

Mark and Tim will conduct a more in-depth discussion workshop of the Form 990 when they present “Nonprofit Tax: 990 Forms” with the SBDC on November 30th. For reservations, contact the SBDC at 904-620-2476 or online. At $40 per person ($30 if you register three or more) it’s a valuable event nonprofit and faith-based management can’t afford to miss.

If you have any questions or need more information, you can also contact us, Online Stewardship Accounting & Consulting, at 904-398-4747 or Lynn@onlinestewardship.com.
