Supporting Your Faith with Fiscal Accountability

Testimonials

I have personally known Mark Patrick since 1988. I have worked with him both professionally at the corporate level and personally as he has been my accountant. It is without hesitation that I would recommend him and his company.

Daily Fundraiser Strategies to Show You the Money!

How can your nonprofit or house of worship improve strategies to be successful among the other myriad fundraisers? From building lasting relationships with prospects and donors, to successfully planning and executing gift requests, you can implement certain planning steps to maximize your results.

While each fundraising strategy holds importance, often overlooked is the skill of managing yourself. Managing time and actions effectively may seem common sense, but with constant deadlines and a few doses of life’s unexpected curveballs, following a well-intentioned daily action schedule may prove challenging.

But with a little focus and discipline, a good fundraiser can follow specific guidelines to become even more efficient:

  • Prioritize raising money. Make a concerted effort to prioritize the top three-to-five revenue-generating tasks that will yield the highest return on your time investment and do these Focus on writing request letters, assigning prospects for volunteers to contact, and scheduling events to introduce your CEO to top prospects.
  • Don’t “work hard” at your desk in that all-too-comfy swivel chair. Effective fundraising professionals schedule offsite meetings with donors, asking for gifts and raising money. Don’t fall into the trap of being glued to your desk; get out of your office, make connections, and increase support for your organization!
  • Get out of your comfort zone. Does asking for gifts over the phone and meeting that “whale” of a prospect make you a bit nervous, so you keep putting it off? You’ll spend all year fretting—and not producing—if you wait till you’re “comfortable.” Just do it: pick up the phone and start dialing. Stepping out of your comfort zone is the only way to continuously improve.
  • One step at a time. You likely set annual fundraising goals to reach your desired destination. Instead of looking at the big picture, take one step at a time; set specific and reachable daily, weekly, and monthly goals for both you and your team.

Of course, if we said 100 other miscellaneous tasks won’t arise daily, we’d be kidding ourselves. But purposeful, strategic management of your tasks and prioritizing those that lead to donations will certainly increase funding to your charitable organization or house of worship.

So grab those keys to success, focus, and unlock your door to effective fundraising! We want you to succeed and we’re here to help. If you need accounting, management or audit services for your nonprofit, the Online Stewardship Accounting & Consulting Services team is proud to be your resource.
